Why Blog?

This is my very first blog. Why am I doing this? I could just write in a journal all the things that I want to say. But, I guess I just feel like this way I am bouncing my ideas off others. That always helps me to make sense of things. So, here I am, talking to a silent audience. I hope that in some small way the struggles I have with my identity can help others who might also be struggling, because I know there are a lot of us. I have found a way to feel peace and security with just being myself.

Now you may be wondering why I chose to name my blog "Shades of Nature." Then again, you might not. I am going to tell you either way though. I came up with the title through a favorite quote of mine by Emily Bronte; "I'll walk where my own nature would be leading, it vexes me to choose another guide." I particularly like this quote because I have gone through the motions for years; I have been doing things for the sake of doing them without knowing why, other than that it was expected of me. Lately I have come to realize more of my own nature, and in turn I have been able to let it lead me. Also, I have come to realize that life is not black and white, but it has all sorts of shades. I am happy to say that I love the many wonderful and glorious shades of my nature.

Love love

  1. Hi, Smelly. I hope you find blogging as cathartic and connecting as I have. I love the quote and the introspection behind your first post. Oh, and I love you.
